Laidir (Gaelic for strong), is an Australian-owned company with a passion for the natural beauty of Australian hardwood. Our philosophy is to create - through exceptional design and world-class manufacture - timeless, unparalleled indoor, verandah and outdoor furniture.
Our Design
At Laidir, every piece of furniture has been individually handcrafted and finished to the very highest standard. We use only natural oils for timber finishing, preservation and beautification and our construction methods enhance the natural beauty, colour and grain of the timber. We call this construction process 'perfection in manufacture'.
Our Timber
All the timber used in our furniture is either 'salvaged' (reclaimed) or 'recycled' timber. This means we have sourced it after natural felling. We guarantee that no trees have been intentionally or directly felled in the manufacture of our furniture.
Our hardwood is sourced from regions of the New South Wales Mid-North Coast, as well as Victoria and Far-North Queensland. Laidir only source the very best available Australian Native Hardwood species including: Spotted Gum, Blue Gum, Red Gum, Rose Wood, Tallowood, Iron Bark, Silver Ash and Jarrah. All these species are renowned for their individual characteristics, colour and durability.
Designer Sean Dunphy states “I wanted to design and custom build furniture of an exceptional standard using salvaged Australian hardwood timbers.
Our country has the most beautiful hardwood timbers in the world. Rather than see these rot away, we wanted to give them new life."

With with any natural product subjected to the elements, natural or otherwise, on-going maintenance is required.
