With an industrial design background and experience gained from an automotive clay modelling career with GM Holden Design in Australia and the US, and at Jaguar and Volkswagen Design centres in Europe, Corey Baker has commission pieces which bring a refreshing personality and timeless elegance to contemporary furniture.
Designer/maker Corey Baker's idea generation, material selection, refinement and final execution of each design, combines to create functional pieces with visual presence.
Inspiration for the designs come from an appreciation of proportion, form and detail of both natural and architectural elements. Expressive design and unique style characterised by aesthetic proportions, fluid and relaxed forms, harmonious clean lines, vivacious surfaces, meticulous attention to structural detail.
Corey predominantly uses reclaimed or renewable Australian Timbers in his furniture. The natural beauty of these timbers is accentuated with particular designs giving each limited piece individual character.
Quality craftsmanship is employed in both traditional and innovative construction techniques.
Durable superior finishes are applied to enhance and protect the natural beauty of the materials.
