Furniture Care

General furniture care

Do not use indoor furniture for outdoor purpose. Please be aware that prolonged exposure of furniture to direct sunlight, bright light such as sun lamps, strong down lights will cause fabric, leather to fade, timber to warp or crack. Do not cover certain areas of furniture for long time, which will cause colour difference with the ones not covered. Direct sunlight includes sunlight through a window, use curtains or blinds to protect your furniture.

Do not place furniture too close to a heater or air conditioning vent as this may distort the material or surface finish. Avoid continual exposure in a damp or wet environment as that will affect the longevity of furniture.

Always lift furniture when moving it around, and never drag. Do not sit on the arm of a sofa or chair, do not stand or jump on the seat. Do not rock on the back of the chair because that may weaken the structure and possibly cause joint failure.

Check and tighten all the screws every six months or so, loose screws will dramatically reduce the furniture life span.

Lacquered and timber veneer furniture care

Natural timber and veneer finishes will show distinctive grains, patterns and colour variations which are evidence of being produced from genuine timber materials. Always use protective heat coverings to protect against hot objects. Always use coasters when placing glasses, bottles, or cups on the surface. Clean stains and liquid spills immediately, they can permanently bond with furniture if allowed to soak in.

Leather upholstered furniture care

Leather is a natural product. Because of this there may be markings and slight variations of leather on the sofa. These markings and slight variations are simply natural characteristics of leather which represents a true distinction between natural product and synthetic coverings. Regularly wipe dust off the leather with a soft, damp cloth. Periodically (3-6 times per year) clean the leather surface with a soft, damp cloth in a mild solution of natural soap and warm water, alternatively, you can purchase a leather cleaning kit from supermarkets or specialist homeware stores. A certain amount of wrinkles and softening of cushions are to be expected over time. The seat and back cushions will alter slightly in shape; it is merely the filling adjusting to your usage, especially with feather cushions, you need to turn them over and pat them regularly to maintain the feather filling to stay evenly.

Fabric upholstered furniture care

Rotate cushions regularly to even the wear and fading. If a thread becomes loose on the fabric, simply cut it off, do not pull it. Avoid harsh brushing and sharp objects (rings, buckles, toys) as it will cause snagging of threads. Use an upholstery spray to protect your lounge suite coverings. Dust is best removed using your vacuum cleaner with the appropriate attachment. Fabrics differ in properties; follow the unique care and cleaning instructions labelled on your fabric furniture.

Aluminium legs and glass top furniture care

The use of Anodized and brushed Aluminium prevents oxidation and corrosion. The Aluminium alloy will stay brighter and new through ages. Dust the surface regularly to avoid build up of pollutants. Avoid contact with sharp or hard objects as this will cause scratching of the surface.

Use a regular glass cleaner with an appropriate soft cloth to clean the glass. Remember all glass can be scratched; avoid direct contact with sharp or hard objects such as the bottom of bowls can scratch the surface very easily.

Furniture assembly

It is important to ensure the furniture is installed properly as per the procedures and instructions provided by our factory. Professional assembly is highly recommended as we found many “quality” complaints are caused by careless handling, and then passed on to us. Wall mounting and hanging items should be installed by licensed builders or tradesman.
